The Story Behind the Book
The third book began in places that looked like paradise from the outside. Koh Tao and the Maldives were turquoise water, diving, boats and island life — the kind of places people usually imagine escaping to. But living and working there long enough revealed something very different beneath the surface.
Island Collapse grew from that contrast: beautiful surroundings, demanding work, isolation, pressure and the point where an idealised life starts to crack. It isn’t a book about escaping to paradise. It’s about what happens when you stay long enough to see what paradise asks from you in return.
