Book II
Down Under
Australia, mining camps, work, money and heat.
Lived first. Written later.
The Story Behind the Book
The second book came from a very different road. Australia meant long distances, remote mine sites, early mornings, heat, dust and the strange rhythm of working far away from ordinary life. What began as a period of work became an immersion in FIFO camps, geotechnical fieldwork and a side of Australia most travellers never see.
Down Under grew from that year — from the people, the isolation, the money, the routines and the feeling of living somewhere that could seem both enormous and strangely confined at the same time. It isn’t a guide to Australia, but a record of what it was like to work there, live inside that system, and watch a temporary chapter become something much bigger.
